Are you ready to hit a hole in one? PGA Golf Best Ball is a strategic game where you draft a Best Ball roster focused on advancing multiple rounds and then scoring the most points in the finals. It has similarities and differences to other Best Ball sports.
Roster Construction and Scoring
In PGA Best Ball there are no positions! Essentially all players are flex players. This is different from every other sport and removes any positional allocation and draft capital allocation decisions. Each draft consists of 6 teams drafting 10 golfers for a total of 60 in each draft. Of the 10 players drafted on each team, the scores of the top scoring 6 golfers count for each round. Here are the scoring categories in relation to pars:

Know the Rules
Underdog has two different styles of Best Ball tournaments (Albatross and Scramble) and it’s crucial that you know which style of tournament you are entering. The style of tournament dictates how many total PGA tournaments count towards your teams score and how many PGA tournaments are in each round of the Best Ball tournament.
Golfers Available
Understanding what golfers are scheduled to participate in what tournaments is the trickiest part of PGA Best Ball. This information will allow you to draft teams that are viable to advance. Every golfer does not play in every tournament; there are injuries, rest and qualifications that are involved.
Player Combinations Are King
There is no way to differentiate yourself by positional allocation and draft capital allocation like other sports, you need to find another way. The primary way will be to draft combinations of players that are not common together. In many cases, this means not being tethered to ADP. Do this by:
- Mixing your selections when golfers are in the same tier, don’t always take the person with the lowest ADP.
- Observing which early players are drafted together at a high frequency and selecting different combinations.
- Draft a player or two late that are not selected in every draft.
